I went to Whitley Bay
Just the other day
A place I’d read about in books
I’d been led to believe it was a town that sucks
I didn’t stay very long
We had a drive along the prom
Then a walk along the beach
It’s where the dog walkers seem to meet
It seemed a nice seaside town
Made me smile rather than frown
Of course the highlight of my day
Was crossing the causeway near the little bay
St Marys lighthouse stands proud and tall
And was for me the very best thing of all
